Goodbye Robert...

My favourite Masterchef contestant has gone. I liked him from day one when he said his mother said 'don't be surprised when you haven't got any money at university if you spend it all on sea bass'. Just the scrutiny alone is enough to put you off a competition like that. Close-ups of your most awkward and defeated moments; silly mistakes. But he didn't ever make revolting sticky toffee pudding which if I was a judge would have instantly disqualified the contestants the three times it came up. Like chocolate fondant (yawn...) What about other puddings?! St Clements (or Lemon Delicious...) Queen of Puddings, Eve's Pudding, Apple Charlotte?

But let's hear it for Robert, for eating sea bass at university and for all the other 21 year old aspiring cooks in the country who are brave enough to enter and put pansies on their food.

Our Carnivorous Dish of the Day - Peter Bayless

Cast iron griddle pan with ridges

Kitchen foil

Tongs

I love Gregg Wallace...

...and his unbridled enthusiasm for food on tonights Masterchef final. Although Inspector X wanted Sara to win, it was impossible to decide and I had to get a glass of sherry on a day I don't normallly drink it was so exciting.  I want to try  the octopus pease pudding, the suckling pig, the carageen moss vanilla custard, the hare, all the burgers especially the monkfish liver one - and will someone in Suffolk please start to do the chocolate ravioli stuffed with partridge? As Gregg would say...oh God!

It's Masterchef and it's Rhubarb Time

Eggs poached in cling film, food all over the floor, a manic sound track, lots of crying and mackerel with rhubarb on Masterchef. But all is calm at suffolkfoodie, with Inspector x's delicious rice pudding with rhubarb on our recipe pages. Yorkshire's forced rhubarb grows in candlelight and now has Protected Designation of Origin status from the European Commission.
